Details of the Nautilus
Model
in the
International Maritime Museum - Hamburg
Kai Brüninghaus kindly provided photographs taken under difficult conditions at the museum. The first photo shows the forward part of the deck viewed from the starboard side. Note the main hatch at right and the similar hatch on the captain's boat superstructure. |
The lantern is located at the aft end of the deck. It is dramatically lighted in the model. |
The wheelhouse, viewed from the port side, is just forward of the deck. Notice the triangular fairing on the hull forward of the wheelhouse. |

The dive planes are spade shaped. |
The stern of the model is nicely detailed. |
The whole model is beautifully constructed but the interior detail is especially impressive. Unfortunately only the wheelhouse and salon are depicted. |
