South Facade

The castle's south face is gone, destroyed during the Civil War in the mid 1600s. This wall contained the kitchen ovens, and their destruction not only eliminated a wall but symbolically and literally removed the castle's ability to support itself. The low wall that remains was actually built in the 19^th century. This is another façade whose appearance we can only imagine.
